Maritime Passenger Terminal of Natal
- Client: Companhia Docas do Rio Grande do Norte (CODERN)
- Status: Built
- Built area: 5,068.67m²
The project is composed by two buildings: the first building is an old warehouse of historical value, previously used as a refrigerating and meat packing facility and currently deactivated, located on Chile Street.
Because of its historical value, this building was restored and currently functions as a gateway to the terminal, with shops, an information desk and tourist support facilities.
The second building is a new construction and houses the passenger station. It has three floors that include embarking and disembarking hall, restaurant, administration, staff support, terrace, and an area reserved for CODERN.
The intervention took place in an area of approximately 5,000m² in the Port of Natal and worked as a revitalization trigger for the historic Ribeira area, a region listed at Federal level as a part of the strict protection polygon of the Historical Site of Natal, delimited in 2010 by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute of Rio Grande do Norte.
The project meets the criteria of sustainability displayed in the Normative Instruction nº 1 of the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management and covers other international standards.
